Upon leaving York he worked as a programmer, and became interested in computer graphics while working for Cambridge Animation Systems. In 1998 he took up the position of Senior Lecturer at the National Centre for Computer Animation in Bournemouth.
Since then he has conducted research into rendering tools, and has presented at SIGGRAPH, and other conferences. He has recently completed a book "Essential RenderMan" which is published by Springer.
